The short answer

Start with your professional record, not a course advertisement. Identify your remaining requirement, choose relevant learning and verify the specific activity before booking.

Separate learning from recognition

Continuing medical education describes learning after initial qualification. Continuing professional development is a broader idea that includes developing professional capabilities. In everyday Saudi searches, CME and CPD are often used for the same practical goal: finding suitable learning and maintaining a professional record.

Three questions still need separate answers: is the teaching useful, is the activity approved for the relevant purpose, and can your participation be recorded? A polished certificate answers none of these on its own. Saudi CME is an independent guide to these decisions, not the authority that awards or records hours.

A sensible first session

Open the official SCFHS digital-platforms page and follow its practitioner-service links. Write down what your own record requires and the end of your current period. Do not infer your classification from your department name.

Then choose one learning need from your actual work. Examples might include communicating a handover, understanding a local quality process or improving the way you read evidence. These are planning examples, not a claim that every course with those words is eligible.

Shortlist two activities. For each, record the organiser, approval information, target audience, dates, delivery mode, completion conditions and final cost. If one field is unclear, ask the organiser before paying. A smaller, clearly documented activity is easier to evaluate than an unexplained bundle.

Close the loop after learning

Keep the booking information, your completion evidence and a short note about what changed in your understanding. Check the professional record separately rather than treating a downloaded file as the final step.

Our planner helps organise time and remaining hours, while the completion log helps you distinguish planned learning from completed learning and hours you have actually checked. Neither tool connects to SCFHS or submits a renewal. This separation prevents a common planning mistake: counting a booking as if its credits were already recorded.
