The short answer
International credit is not automatically a Saudi CPD credit. Check the current recognition route and evidence requirements for the specific external activity before paying.
Separate the two accreditation questions
An overseas organiser may accurately describe approval from its own accreditor. That does not answer whether your participation can be recognised for your Saudi registration. Check the accrediting body, activity type, specialty relevance and the current SCFHS route.
Use official practitioner services as the starting point. A course seller’s statement that “international CME is accepted everywhere” is not enough. If recognition is essential to the purchase, obtain an account-specific clarification before committing to travel, accommodation or a non-refundable registration.
Collect evidence while it is available
Save the official programme, activity dates, named organiser, accreditation statement and participation conditions. Ask what the final certificate will show. Keep your own evidence of attendance or completion rather than assuming the payment receipt is sufficient.
SCFHS publishes different evidence expectations for different activity types. Consult the official recognition document for the applicable details. If a programme includes both a conference and a separate workshop, retain the distinction instead of combining them into an invented total.
For an online course, record the actual delivery website and completion period. Do not use the duration of a content library or subscription as if it were a certificate for a single approved activity.
Budget for uncertainty
Before paying, ask yourself whether the activity would still be worthwhile if no Saudi credit were recognised. If the answer is no, resolve the recognition question first. Do not use a comparison site’s listing as a substitute for that decision.
Allow time for a service application and any request for additional evidence. Do not promise your employer an outcome you have not received. Keep external learning in a separate “awaiting review” section of your private records until the relevant outcome is clear.

Primary sources used for the facts above. Our checklists and hypothetical examples are planning guidance, not official decisions.
- SCFHS · CPD recognition evidence requirements ↗Evidence varies by activity type. A complete certificate does not itself guarantee recognition.
- Saudi National Portal · Self-directed learning recognition ↗Application service, not automatic credit for reading an article.
- SCFHS · Official digital platforms ↗Safe starting point for Mumaris+, Mustamir and the digital learning platform.
