The short answer
A membership works when you will repeatedly use its included benefits. Do not compare a maximum possible annual credit with a guaranteed one-off course allocation.
Price the benefits you will actually use
Virtual Medical Academy’s published practitioner Tamkeen plan showed SAR 99 monthly or SAR 849 annually, including VAT, when checked on 1 November 2026. The annual page described up to 60 hours subject to plan conditions. That is a membership offer, not 60 hours issued at payment.
Make a personal list of likely activities and check which are included, discounted or excluded. Library access, live-event admission and credit-bearing completion are separate benefits. If the included events do not match your profession or schedule, a large library does not solve that mismatch.
Use a realistic break-even test
Suppose a hypothetical annual membership costs SAR 600 and replaces six activities you would otherwise buy at SAR 120 each. The direct comparison is SAR 600 against SAR 720, before considering eligibility and your time. If you actually attend only two of those activities, the same membership may be poor value. These numbers illustrate the method and are not a provider quote.
Do the calculation with your own shortlist. Do not assign a purchase value to a course you would never have taken. Avoid counting the same event twice as both library access and event admission. Leave uncertain future events out of the conservative case.
Read renewal and cancellation separately
Check whether payment recurs, how to cancel, when cancellation takes effect and whether completed learning remains accessible afterwards. A monthly price multiplied by twelve is not necessarily the annual-plan price. Promotional terms may also differ.
Save the current plan description and your confirmation. If you need only one specific activity before a deadline, a transparent one-off purchase may be simpler. If you want ongoing professional learning, assess the quality and relevance of the membership beyond the credit headline.
